Whenever I go shopping, I go down the Coffee aisle, as you never know what you might find.

The Asda Extra Special Brazilian Roast & Ground Coffee caught my eye and I had to give it a try

With a higher strength of 4, the dark medium roast has a nutty note.

Setup of the Asda Extra Special Brazilian Roast & Ground Coffee

This is already ground coffee so no need to grind it and as it's a stronger coffee, I put 160g of it in the Bodum:

Then added cold tap water, ready to start my 12-hour (plus 2 hours after a stir) brew:

The Taste

After storing in the fridge in the Hario:

It was time to pour my usual 300ml into my Beast Cup:

What I found is that it wasn't as strong as I thought but, was a little sharp. So after popping in a bit of water, I found the optimal ratio was 300ml coffee concentrate to 50ml water.

That was enough to remove the sharpness and give off a slight hint of nut showing.

Still, it wasn't as strong as it claimed but, it was just about drinkable.

Considerations

It's cheap, it's £3.50 for 227g or 2 for £5.50 which you can really complain about, and it will do for a single origin from the supermarket.

Hard Lines Colombia El Carmen Cold Brew Coffee Review

The Colombia El Carmen from Hard Lines, located in my home city of Cardiff, was calling out to me. Why? Cherry Bakewell favoured. I have not had a washed coffee since my first review and was very eager to taste it. A very smooth, not so strong but tasted of a Cherry Bakewell. There wasn't much extra water needed to dilute it as it came out perfect, and it can be drank black, which is always a winner. The price per 250g was £11.50, which is a bit on the expensive side. However, if you want a treat and mix it up a little from the norm, this is certainly worth a try. I shall give The Colombia El Carmen from Hard Lines 4 out of 5 Beans 🫘

Whenever I got to TK Maxx, I always check what they have on offer in the coffee section. This time, I think I found a diamond in the rough when I discovered a locally based coffee From Ferrari's in Bridgend, South Wales. The one I found was Ferrari's Siena Coffee , and it was labelled as Extra strong, which got my attention. Extra Strong Diamond in the rough from Tk Maxx This is an Extra Dark Roast from Bridgend. It is full of bold and intense flavours, with notes of dark chocolate and roasted walnuts. Setup of the Ferrari's Siena Coffee I found the sweet spot of 190 grams of coffee to 1.3 litres of coffee for the new OXO cold Brew Coffee Maker .
