Scout Coffee Roasters Basecamp Cold Brew Coffee Review

This Valentine's Day, my wife treated me to some local coffee. All the way from Newport, South Wales (well just around the corner from me really) comes Basecamp Coffee from Scout Coffee Roasters.

Dib Dib Dob Dob, A Strong Brazilian from the Port!

Basecamp uses a classic Brazilian bean.  Even my wife knows what coffee I really love. This bean, unlike the others I have tasted before, is a light bean with notes of dark chocolate, caramel and almond.

Setup of the Scout Coffee Roasters Basecamp Coffee

Using the OXO cold Brew Coffee Maker, adding 1.3 litres of water to the whole bag of 250g ground coffee.  I went with an Aeropress Grind this time, which was a bit finer than I'm used to.

The Taste

While pouring the coffee through the Hario Jug with custom cheese cloth filter, I found the coffee very strong. The coffee had to be diluted a bit more than usual to get the right taste.

After sorting out the strength, the taste was very much of dark chocolate.  That strong hit right at the end of every sip and, it was quite potent too. Giving a good kick in caffeine.

Considerations

It's priced at £10 per 250 gram though 1 kg is £29.  Its up there with the premium brands but Scout Coffee is partnered up Ecologi. With every 1 kg of coffee sold, they will plant a tree. Something a bit different from the other coffees I have had before.

Oh, and you get a cool little sticker too!

The Score

Overall, I will give it 3 beans out of 5.

White Rose Coffee Roasters Brazil Bourbon Yellow Cold Brew Coffee Review

For all the different types of Coffee I have tried, The Brazil Bourbon Yellow is one of the best but, it's always hard to find. It was like finding a Shiny in a pack of football stickers, so I had to buy it. White Rose Coffee Roasters Brazil Bourbon Yellow Coffee is Just liking finding that rare trading card! This Brazil Bourbon Yellow from White Rose Coffee Roasters didn't officially have a strength score, however it is a Medium roast (so I'm expecting around a 3) with 84 Fruity and full-bodied with grape and deep chocolates. Setup of the White Rose Coffee Roasters Brazil Bourbon Yellow Coffee I purchased the bigger 1 kg of Beans, so I could experiment with the Coffee per ration. Hard Lines Colombia El Carmen Cold Brew Coffee Review

The Colombia El Carmen from Hard Lines, located in my home city of Cardiff, was calling out to me. Why? Cherry Bakewell favoured. I have not had a washed coffee since my first review and was very eager to taste it. Another Local Coffee for the Local people With 14 hour Cold Brewing Period in my Bodum Cold Brew Coffee Maker, The Colombia El Carmen from Hard Lines came out exactly as i expected. A very smooth, not so strong but tasted of a Cherry Bakewell. There wasn't much extra water needed to dilute it as it came out perfect, and it can be drank black, which is always a winner. The price per 250g was £11.50, which is a bit on the expensive side. However, if you want a treat and mix it up a little from the norm, this is certainly worth a try. I shall give The Colombia El Carmen from Hard Lines 4 out of 5 Beans 🫘

Asda Extra Special Brazilian Roast & Ground Cold Brew Coffee Review

Whenever I go shopping, I go down the Coffee aisle, as you never know what you might find. The  Asda Extra Special Brazilian Roast & Ground Coffee caught my eye and I had to give it a try With a higher strength of 4, the dark medium roast has a nutty note. Setup of the Asda Extra Special Brazilian Roast & Ground Coffee This is already ground coffee so no need to grind it and as it's a stronger coffee, I put 160g of it in the Bodum: Then added cold tap water, ready to start my 12-hour (plus 2 hours after a stir) brew: The Taste After storing in the fridge in the Hario: It was time to pour my usual 300ml into my Beast Cup: What I found is that it wasn't as strong as I thought but, was a little sharp.  So after popping in a bit of water, I found the optimal ratio was 300ml coffee concentrate to 50ml water . That was enough to remove the sharpness and give off a slight hint of nut showing. Still, it wasn't as strong as it claimed but, it was just about drinka...
